@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

So, Chief, the new board head, wants to get more traffic.

The Main Problem with this, is, we are a website based on a long dead TV Francise that has no hope for a 'proper' rekindling, at the very least, all we can hope for is a 'restart' using the same characters, and face, it, thats not going to happen.

So I was approached about a bold idea.

Start including information about the Archie Comics. The one based on SatAM.

This requires a few things.. that:

A.) Information needs to be compiled for new sections, aka- Content. I can generally do this easily enough when it comes to the basic information. I'd need someone to do issue reviews and summaries--- it's been forever since I've personally read the comic. I'd also need Comic Scans. I have a load of these hidden away somewhere, up to a certain issue.

B.) That Die Hard SatAM Fans need to realize that the Archie comic //is// the spiritual successor of the TV show, to a point. This isn't an Opinon, it's a fact, wether you like it or not. They both have the same characters largely, and like or hate it, the comic shows no signs of ending soon.

C.) The TV Show is still the primary focus, and the name will remain 'FUS'. It won't become 'FUSaTAC' (Fans United for SatAM and The Archie Comic.. hahhahaha.). We'll just be covering ' 'Late and Breaking SatAM news' (Catch the Sarcasm there folks? That leads into issue D....) aswell as the Archie Comic.'.

D.) FUS is going to be staganant if all we cover is the TV Show. Theres no late and breaking news regarding it. Once in a while, there is, but it happens so RARELY it's not worth it. It'd be nice to get a crapload of cels or model sheets or real scripts to add to the site, however, but this isn't happening from the folks who have them.

E.) SatAM Fans will need to get along with Archie Fans. You both love the god damn characters, why does it matter that ones a little different than the other?

F.) Rules Rewrite - Rules will be rewritten to allow for other discussion, where applicable.

and there you go.

THIS IS NOT HAPPENING YET. But rather, after you have read the above points, I want your opinon on this. What are your views on it? Is it a good idea? Are you willing to allow this, begrudingly? Will you welcome it with open arms? Will you LEAVE if this happens?

This is NOT a majority vote. for the record. I want your opinons as the staff core decides on the best plan of action. Your Opinons will shape this, and determine if it happens at all.

The reason why this idea has been put foreword is indeed I am hoping to increase the traffic on the forum. Now as Rocky said this won't change the SatAM aspect of the forum, as that's what makes this site. However I want to increase the board population, and by doing that WE need to set out to diversify our self's. And hey... diversity can be a good thing.

And as Rocky said the die hard Archie hater's can not claim to be better or go against any Archie lovers we may have.

And for those of you who think we will just become another stupid Sonic site out there in the mass... Well, we won't. Bringing in a Comic section will also hopefully increase the traffic in our other sub forums, like the new Game Forum, and others. Our goal is to create a diverse board, however still keeping our true forum of SatAM.

Anyone and I mean ANYONE be you new, or old to these boards, please toss your input our way. These forums are for you guys and gals.

I have no objections, I'm fond of the series as a whole. I could probably contribute stuff as well since I have a lot of older issues.

I don't know much about the comic, but I'm in! I really want to know more about the way the series went regarding the comic.

I don't really mind the idea, but I do have a small concern that those who come here as Archie fans will do some research on all things SatAM, and not be disrespectful of us. We, frankly, have had it a bit rough in recent times, and I really would not like to be reminded of it.

As long as Archie fans who come here have some TV show knowledge, and are tactful, then I'd like to converse with them. Empathy is always a good thing, you know? ^^

So, as long as they know the history, and ease up a bit when they come here, bring 'em on.

Awesome. Sounds like a great direction for the site to take.

I completely agree that SatAM and the comic are brothers. Even though they were separated at birth, they still have the same parents, dammit!

No objection here either.

It does in a way slightly drift away from the premise of the site as a whole, but it's hardly anything to get worked up about. As was stated, Archie, especially early Archie, was practically SatAM in comic form. It's not like you're going to start putting up Sonic X stuff.

The only thing I wonder about is how the later comics will be integrated with this. I suppose it's not fair to cut off support halfway through the series, so we'll have to tolerate some Eggman and Shadow, but it's a minor concession I guess.

All that remains to be seen is how many new members we'll see from this. Hopefully more than a few.

Even after he returned for the big 1-5-0 event, Shadow's presence in the comics has been pretty minor all things considered; he hasn't shown up at all for some time now, and has only had two major storyarcs dealing explicitly with him anyway. Not that I dislike Shadow or anything, but I don't think we'd need to worry too much about him if the expansion comes about.

Archie, a spiritual successor? Hahaha.

Anyway, SatAM-related discussions only take up a fraction of the forum's posts in the first place, so there's nothing to be concerned about there. I have no objections to an Archie forum, but it's not as if the current forum is overwhelmed with topics about other Sonic continuities. Either way, adding a new forum is a whole lot better than, say, deleting old ones.

I'll see if I can round up a few former members; who knows, they might feel like coming back now.

Yeah, because Sega is embarrassed of him xD whether they admit it or not . Especially after the big secretive launch, no one knew what he was going to look like, including the artists who literally had to keep him in Shadow xD

Either way, yeah I'm ok with this, and old long gone members coming back as long as they're not jerks x3 who we've had a few of.

And I'll be happy to submit content if I can

I like the idea, but I have a few things to say first. One of the main reasons I love this board as apposed to others is that this fandom is small. When ever I go to Twilight Lexicon (for the series that makes all girls scream) I find that SO MANY fans post there that by the time I get to see a topic 49 pages of posts are already up and I can't even begin to get through them. Also, I don't want any fans who come in here to say "AMY IS BETTER" without really expressing WHY they think that way.

On a realistic note, I think that we won't get the droves of fans like the Twilight sights do. So that takes care of one complaint, and the other...well..if it happens we will debate it with using logic and other good mind tools. But I'd also like to add that it might be a good idea to open this place up for not only the comic for games (past, present, future) as well as a small section for the other shows. We may not find them good, but some fan might. We could also call this sight FUSS: Fans United for Sonic and SatAM. This might let other fans know that SatAM is our primary interest, but we are open to all things Sonic. What do you guys think?

It's hard balancing having an active, small, community without stagnation. While undoubtedly fans of the . . . unsavory type of the comics will be attracted, there will also be fans of the comic who loved the older stuff.

In regards to catering to all things sonic, while focusing on SatAM, I think that could be a good idea, as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

The Name of the site IS. NOT. CHANING. for the record.

We will not be supporting other Sonicverses. period. The Archie comic shares 'enough in common' with the TV show to be related, like, an odd, cousin.

Please never compare that ... ugh, I'm not going to say it, keep discussion of Twilight out of this. That situation is different from this site-- the themes aren't even the same.
