Would be neat to see a supporting character use one and be the hero on a mission for once.

Anytime magic elements are used in a Sonic franchise, it ends up being too similar to Chaos Emeralds. I thought the Deep Power Stones were very similar to Chaos Emeralds, except there were only two (which is much better, pacing-wise, opposed to a whole seven) and they didn't turn Sonic yellow. But what the Stones did in the plot was the same as what the Emeralds would have done.
I would like it if the magic elements (if used at all) in Sonic should have a toll on Sonic's health, as was suggested before. That would probably be one of the few way to make it less "Chaos Emerald-esque". (Woaw! I just made up a word!)
Believe it or not...

In case you miss the first page. Ben told us it was the the 'ongoing' struggle. I'm sure props will come along to help. The controversial King's list is very important.
When time travel is mentioned at least once in the series any number of events can be easily put to the question. But I think it was a lack of oversight by the writers to get the events down chronologically because of time issues/budget/etc.,.

There's many things that could be added to work besides props. They do come in handy though.
Like previous discussions it's really about the action between the characters and enviornment that makes the story. I'm glad this show didn't use too many props that were overpowered.
Even the use of a power ring each episode might be annoying but we know it wasn't really the ring that won it. One of many items used in numerous situations.

Reference: Archie Sonic.
I think it would look cool, but it would have to be done tastefully. Otherwise you ruin the mechanics of the series.

SatAM happened to be good and better thought out imo. Is the term 'more traditional/normal' right?

I'm not saying it can't be done, and done well; I'm just saying it'll take a lot more than THAT to bring the many niches of the Sonic fandom together.

Perhaps there wouldn't be seven of them, just one (like in Sonic Underground).
As for Super Sonic... Well it would have been pretty cool, but I doubt there would have been a transformation.
