King of the Hill cancelled...

Well, to me, this is a very, truly sad day...This was a very normal, realistic (most of the time) sort of show that was never something meant to make someone fall out of their chair from laughing, but I will still miss it greatly...
I can't believe it was cancelled...and worse than that...it was cancelled to make room for more trash from Seth MacFarlane, although I did like Family Guy and do still watch it from time to time...King of the Hill just had far superior writing...
Anyone else sad to see it go?

As far as Seth MacFarlane's stuff is concerned, "Family Guy" made me laugh once upon a time, but I stopped caring when I realized there was no plot or depth or even many actual jokes. Same goes for "American Dad" and will probably be the same with whatever new drek they cart out.

Not really. I liked the show. It had many good episodes. But it did not out-trump family guy. FG does something that many can't do as well as they can. They keep tabs on the net and see what the average person is watching. When Peter goes back in time to save his marriage, what song did they play? Not any song, but one by Rick. The vary same song that was used to fool us all has been placed on screen. Seth and the rest of the writers make good choices in what they write about, and how to reference many other works. Now, you can not like the show as much as KOTH. You can say all you want, just like I can say all I want about Brittany Spears. But You can't doubt that because of the constant tabs of Seth keeps on the fads of today they know how to write episodes that people will watch, just like I can't deny that Brit still sells music. Family Guy has taken the ideas of the Simpsons and gone father then they ever have.

Amen to that. The Simpsons spent the last decade going from being the best show on television to being the worst show on television.
As for KOTH getting cancelled, I haven't watched it in forever so I wouldn't know if it's a bad or good thing. When I did watch it, it was a truly great show. Animation was good; the characters were a little more well drawn than other animated sitcoms.
I think what made it stand out was that it was rare mix of humor and heart. It was one of the very few sitcoms about normal, decent people that was actually funny. The humor was character-driven and the show had concern for its characters. Unlike Family Guy which lacked emotional substance and specialized in referential gags that any fool can make. An effective M.O. that works, but doesn't warrant respect.
It also stood out as a rare instance of decent conservative humor. For the most part, liberals tend to be funnier than conservatives are, and thus dominate comedy. This show managed to be staunchly conservative while not coming off like a strained, dogmatic piece of trash trying to compensate for lack of representation (eg: "This Just In")

(it seemed at least to be mostly upfront with it's conservative agenda though, unlike some more recent offerings from South Park, which hides behind foul language and claims of irreverence)
Worst of all "Redstate knows best" wasn't even funny when it wasn't trying to tell us of the evils of porn or stereotyped foreign neighbors (they threw a bone here having an episode showing the difficulty of the citizenship tests, worth it to enter the greatest country on earth of course) and their Americanized/tamed offspring who just want to escape their parents evil culture and become average joe americans.
Oh, and of course non-renewable energy resources are god! I think the sagging but still better Simpsons said it best- "Bobby, I've got propane in my urethra."

American Dad... god damnit why is that still on? It sucked from the start, It sucks now.. Its made for even more stupid people then family guy for christ sake..
King of The Hill actually had some thinking humor in it that I like. I'm not a dumb ass I can understand thinking jokes. To be honest jokes that involve "fart humor" shall I say are for retards, and I hate to be put into that group.

Yeah, it's like they said "We can't make political jokes on family guy, so let's create a whole other show and make even more." with American Dad.
