@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 11:25 AM)

Also I still have to figure out how to set up our e-mail accounts on the new host.

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 08:19 AM)

As soon as I figure out how to restore it. Sorry, I know I said it'd be done by now, but I didn't expect to have to put up with this DNS crap and other issues that popped up.

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

So when's the black theme coming back??

@  Uncle Ben : (24 July 2015 - 07:56 AM)

"Should"

@  furrykef : (24 July 2015 - 07:27 AM)

That DNS took longer to propagate properly than I thought it would. *Now* we should be back for good, though.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:48 PM)

Or it might be because Bluehost *finally* got around to that server wipe (one week after we'd asked for it) and that wiped out our DNS settings. I'm not sure which and I don't really care. In any case, we've severed our last ties with Bluehost, so this will not happen again.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 08:08 PM)

Looks like Bluehost yanked our DNS since our hosting account expired. That's why the site went down a while ago. But as you can see, it's fixed now.

@  Misk : (23 July 2015 - 04:55 PM)

No, they do not.

@  furrykef : (23 July 2015 - 04:27 AM)

The goggles do nothing?

@  Misk : (22 July 2015 - 05:50 PM)

My eyes.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 12:24 PM)

Looks like forum uploads might have been broken since last night. That should be fixed now too.

@  furrykef : (22 July 2015 - 01:33 AM)

Heh, whoops! Server went down for a few mins when I borked the config. Looks like it's back up now.

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 09:09 PM)

It looked like a napkin

@  ILOVEVHS : (21 July 2015 - 09:04 PM)

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:25 PM)

As for the beaver picture while the forum was down, I think Tim drew it. On a napkin.

@  furrykef : (21 July 2015 - 08:24 PM)

No kiddin' about that "Finally!", Shadow. I am *so mad* at Bluehost for never responding to our support ticket. I submitted it early Friday morning and they *still* haven't answered it!

@  Uncle Ben : (21 July 2015 - 06:37 PM)

Maybe he did that himself

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:25 PM)

Say, who made the cute picture of Beaver Chief?

@  Shadow : (21 July 2015 - 05:24 PM)

Finally!

@  RedMenace : (21 July 2015 - 05:02 PM)

Woooo! The site's back up! Three cheers for Kef!

Haha, well unless it's something putting down Islam and not just referencing it then no one should have any reason to complain, passages of the Quran are/have been used as decoration in the home and elsewhere for generations**. Anyway, we're not even allowed to talk badly about it without people freaking out now? WTF? The reason for the riots was that they *depicted the prophet* (or was it Allah? Can't remember) which is expressly forbidden in Islam to discourage the development of idolatry (yeah, like anyone's gonna start worshiping a satirical cartoon strip). It's ridiculous of course but then Christianity isn't without it's own logical fallacies as well as every other religion. So it's not really something most people can be too harsh about I guess.

**In lieu of illustrations to, you guessed it, prevent idolatry.

The Majority of the Muslim/Islam religion is batshit crazy, one group or another would find a reason to find this 'blasphomeous' and firebomb game studios or something going 'ALALALALLALALLALALALLALALALLALALALALALLA'.

Hate to sound racist, but it's the truth. If they'll flip out a about a few cartoons or TV shows, they'd flip out about this.

They aren't bat shit crazy and to be honest I consider people like that have a lack of education on these matters. No offence ment. There are just certain things you don't do in their relegion. The cartoon was bad because to them its like making fun of your dead mom and pissing on her grave. I'm not sure what these "lyrics" are and if they arent much I don't see the reason. But there could be a valid reason.

Muslim/Islam are not full of crazy phyco's. They got their radicals for sure but so does any relegion.

In order to prevent this thread collapsing into a religious debate (aka flame war) I'll steer clear of making comments about the logic of any religions. What annoys me most about when Muslims complain is that the world nearly always stops and changes for them. Nobody else gets this kind of treatment. How many games contain "Jesus Christ" in a blasphemous context? I bet there's some with Buddha referenced in there too.

Um, not really, I'm about to go to bed but I'll just say that Buddhists are way to devided and it's not in the nature of the religion to be very upset at such things, of course this all depends on the tradition etc. The Buddha Gotama himself probably would have just been against VGs in general, as he was all things (including unnecessary talking, including about gods the afterlife/etc and whether or not they exist since their existence can't be proven or unproven and would therefore be a waste of time. And because of the heated exchanges it always produces it's counter-productive in his eyes) that do not related directly to the problem of decreasing and eliminating Dukka (suffering).
Of course that's Buddha himself, most Buddhists today do just pray at shrines near Buddha statues for a better rebirth etc. Buuuut my point is what you did was compare apples and grapefruits xD
Might explain it better tomorrow/later. Night!

PS - I mean, the Hindus depict the Buddha Gotama as an incarnation of Vishnu who came about to mislead crazy persons and demons (very subtle criticism of their rival religion is it not?). Who's to say it's not a Hindu representation? xD

I can't IMAGINE why anyone wouldn't be drawn into the peace and love of Islam.

Let's hear some of Muhammad's wisdom, shall we?

Qur'an 2:61 "Humiliation and wretchedness were stamped on the Jews and they were visited with Allah's wrath."

Qur'an 4:44 "Have you not considered those to whom a portion of the Book has been given? They traffic in error and desire that you should go astray. But Allah has full knowledge of your enemies. Of the Jews there are those who displace words from their (right) places, saying, 'We hear and we disobey' with a twist of their tongues they slander Faith.... Allah has cursed them for disbelief."

Qur'an 4:47 "O you People of the Book to whom the Scripture has been given, believe in what We have (now) revealed, confirming and verifying what was possessed by you, before We destroy your faces beyond all recognition, turning you on your backs, and curse you as We cursed the Sabbath-breakers, for the decision of Allah Must be executed."

Qur'an 4:160 "For the iniquity of the Jews We made unlawful for them certain (foods) in that they hindered many from Allah's Way, that they took usury, though they were forbidden, and that they devoured men's wealth on false pretenses, We have prepared for those among them who reject [Islamic] Faith a painful doom."

Qur'an 5:59 "Say: 'People of the Book! Do you disapprove of us for no other reason than that we believe in Allah, and the revelation that has come to us and that which came before?' Say: 'Shall I point out to you something much worse than this by the treatment it received from Allah? Those who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath, those of whom He transformed into apes and swine."

Qur'an 2:64 "But you [Jews] went back on your word and were lost losers. So become apes, despised and hated. We made an example out of you."

Ishaq:240 "The Jews are a nation of liars.... The Jews are a treacherous, lying, and evil people."

Ishaq:262 "Some Muslims remained friends with the Jews, so Allah sent down a Qur'an forbidding them to take Jews as friends. From their mouths hatred has already shown itself and what they conceal is worse."

I don't think anybody here even claimed Islam is a shiny happy religion of love and peace. You're preaching when it isn't necessary.

There's also the point that many similar things are in the Old Testament. The Old Testament God wasn't a very nice guy. Not to mention that we also don't know what context was removed in the passages you quoted.

Here's another interesting fact: The Islamic religion also claims that art itself is an affront to Allah. That's right, if you draw a PERSON, for instance, then Allah thinks you're trying to directly challenge his ability to create life, but without a soul.

You can say what you want about Christianity, but nowhere in the Bible does it say that you can't draw something. My point? Why bother pandering to the feelings of Muslims? They hate anyone who isn't Islamic, so why bother trying not to offend them. I'm offended all the time as a Christian, but no one seems to give a shit. Why is one made into a mocking scapegoat for cynics and atheists while the other is avoided like the plague and respected at a distance?

As for the game issue itself, I don't care. I don't have a PS3 and this game doesn't seem very interesting to me, no matter how many videos I watch of it. I know a lot of people keep looking at this game as the second coming of Christ in the bodily form of Hulk Hogan the size of Godzilla while playing "Back in Black" with a Guitar made of gold, but all I can muster is an emphatic "Eh."

I would ask how you could make a song with references to the Quran, but then again Led Zepplin did have references to Lord of the Rings, so whatever.

"They hate anyone who isn't Islamic" Ah the wisdom of this. No offence but like Kef said you are preaching when there is no need. And I hate people who bash other relegions without knowing much about them. You look at the bad points (and I know you'll go "but they are all bad points" with a shit eating grin on your face) but no one looks at the good points. Sure they are different then the Western Relegions. Sure they fight bla bla bla. But you know.. they've done this for hundreds of years. And it works fine for them.

I'm sure plenty of christian groups would be up in arms if i made a family game with the upside down burning cross.

I'm not defending anything here. I think sencorship has gone too far... But it annoys me when people will attack s entire group when its not the entire group doing things. Its like me saying all Cathlics rape little boys. It must be true

I pretty much agee with this and to add it must be very uncomfortable for some when their ideas are challenged. If the idea were so absolute there'd be no challenge but in life this isn't the case. So it's sad some people don't have the wisdom to see the difference.

Looks like me steering clear of discussing the religion itself wasn't much use. Every time a thread on any forum mentions religion (and usually politics too) it just degrades. What was the original topic again? Oh yes, censorship.

Oh wow xD. How about the good ole king james since so many people see it as a place to get values from?

Leviticus 24
16: And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

Leviticus 20
13: If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Leviticus 11

9: These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10: And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12: Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
( GodHatesShrimp.com )

Exodus 22

18: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

But let's not concentrate on the old testament too much.

Ephesians 6

5: Servants***, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6: Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7: With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
8: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

(So basically grin and bear it and we promise you'll be treated equally when you die.)
***Literally: Slaves

Ephesians 5
22: Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23: For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24: Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

First Corinthians 11
7: For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8: For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
9: Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10: For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

So always have that head cover to hide your hair handy ladies! Never know when your husband might decide it's time to go outside.

Yeah, look'em up if you like. Quoth Penn Gillette "Because we need more atheists, and nothing will get you there faster than reading the damn Bible."
but not so comfortable on the other side eh?

Also "They hate anyone who isn't Islamic" this over generalization is of course not true, I used to know and be friends with an Islamic family who were quite nice (the mother instilled in my family a love of okra that persists to this day) saying "they" like that, bah.

K-

Leviticus 24
16 anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD must be put to death. The entire assembly must stone him. Whether an alien or native-born, when he blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death.

Leviticus 20
13 " 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Leviticus 11

9 " 'Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams, you may eat any that have fins and scales.
10 But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales—whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water—you are to detest.
11 And since you are to detest them, you must not eat their meat and you must detest their carcasses.
12 Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be detestable to you.
( GodHatesShrimp.com )

Exodus 22
18 "Do not allow a sorceress to live."

But let's not concentrate on the old testament too much.

Ephesians 6
5.Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.
6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.
7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,
8 because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

(So basically grin and bear it and we promise you'll be treated equally when you die.)

Ephesians 5
22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

First Corinthians 11
7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.
8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;
9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.
10 For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.

So always have that head cover to hide your hair handy ladies! Never know when your husband might decide it's time to go outside.
