At this point I've basically locked down the game to be fairly strict SatAM canon, and the timeline to take place between seasons 1 and 2. If you don't care about spoilers we are doing a lot of story talk in discord. https://discord.gg/hxV9fj

So far I'm thinking that...

For Rotor:

If you press lshift, you will have the ability to use some sort of gadget, depending on your equipment (Which you can collect over time). This might include:

 

- Screw driver (Allows you to open certain locked doors)

- Megamuck gun (Gets enemies stuck)

- Plasma cannon (Destroys low level enemies)

For Antoine:

If you hold lshift, you will look hop and look horrified and start running in a direction. While you are running in that direction, you basically can't collide with enemies, traps, etc. So Antoine's ability is more comic relief than useful, but it still gives you something.

There should be at least one point where Antoine is useful, albeit optional. Like a room full of traps but you miss treasure if you use his ability.

For sure! I do like the idea of Antoine having a particularly useful spot in the game. I have a side quest dedicated to him, so that will likely be the place he has most use.

Saw the update on your blog site.

Nice sprite work. I like Rotors wrench and Antoine's shiver animation.

It will be interesting on how you mesh the battle system with Rotors abilities:if the battle is completely skipped, or the enemies are just weakened.

Thanks! Yeah I am still thinking about the effect of the Rotor ability. I like your idea about it affecting the bots during battle but not totally destroying them!

Oh hey, I remember you. This is a pretty cool project, it's really nice to see that your work is bearing fruit. I remembered how as far as a decade or so ago we used to exchange MIDIs here.

Looking for puzzle/gameplay ideas! I am working on Great Forest sections and wondering what kind of puzzles or content to add. Beware of spoilers....

So far I have...

 

- A run puzzle for Sonic

- Secret paths that Antoine scare reveals

- Paths that only Bunnie can traverse via her hookshot-like ability

- Special ancient slabs that Sally can scan and collect to get "something"

- Other things?...

 

It's interesting because Great Forest probably shouldn't have enemies in it?... Maybe later in the forest I'll have bad guy mobians who are like marauders from the old War Claw kingdom (spoilers pt 2), but haven't decided yet about that.

I always thought warring factions would be a good storyline for Satam. Also in the Great Forest,  wild "animals" like those dinosaurs from that one episode could trample you. Maybe not overly aggressive, but if you cross their path.

 

Your SAGE demo was fun to play, btw. Story with the robians forgetting their memories was good and a bit touching.
