@  Wulfsbane : (19 March 2019 - 08:14 PM)

I am absoultely convinced JK Rowling is trying hard to stay relevant.

@  furrykef : (17 March 2019 - 02:30 PM)

I mostly just check in to validate new users and to zap spambots. Obviously, we get far, far more spambots.

@  randomizer : (17 March 2019 - 12:08 AM)

I pop in every couple of days but I don't really have much to say so I mostly just lurk.

@  wildfire : (15 March 2019 - 11:33 PM)

Not looking for anything particular here, but since we got people checking daily, I thought I'd point out that I posted a new topic in SatAM Chat. Show a guy some love and check it out.

@  wildfire : (15 March 2019 - 10:56 PM)

bout the same for me too. I honestly don't remember at this point.

@  Shadow : (14 March 2019 - 01:50 PM)

I been here since I was 14 years old.

@  John Roberts : (14 March 2019 - 12:39 AM)

I lurk, too. Sometimes. Maybe us seniors should just meet up at a retirement village.

@  John Roberts : (14 March 2019 - 12:38 AM)

Hiho Wildfire!

@  wildfire : (13 March 2019 - 10:39 PM)

It doesn't help that everything i post on dies. But seriously, I do try and poke my head in from time to time. FUS was family to me for several years. I doubt I'll ever truly leave.

@  Shadow : (11 March 2019 - 04:43 PM)

I did mention before on the idea of a monthly podcast channel.

@  ShenFNWoo : (11 March 2019 - 06:06 AM)

Yeah, it's that kind of thinking that keeps this place dead, mang :\

@  wildfire : (10 March 2019 - 07:42 PM)

I still pop in from time to time. I'm like a professional lurker. As a senior member I think its fair to say I've earned that right. ;) Miss you guys.

@  ShenFNWoo : (10 March 2019 - 07:18 AM)

Rereading that, a lot of that came out completely wrong. But then again, it is a shoutbox, I don't know what the max word count is on the thing.

@  ShenFNWoo : (09 March 2019 - 07:25 AM)

As I've said many times before... IF the problem is that they themselves can't do it, then the guys running this place could possibly outsource in some form or fashion to people with more time to help work on this comic here. There's clearly people willing to pay for it, and even crowdfunding might be an option.

@  ShenFNWoo : (09 March 2019 - 07:23 AM)

There's really nothing stopping us. All we have to do is want to do this stuff.

Dr. Phil once said bored people are boring. Why a clinical psychologist who admits that most of the problem is of a functional nature within a patient's brain would believe this, I don't know, but there IS truth to that. Those who can't find something to try to work with to have or make a good time are usually just devoid of character themselves.

@  ShenFNWoo : (09 March 2019 - 07:21 AM)

I have a friend that's working on our game concept ideas who has major depression and horrible anxiety, 3 kids and a horrible job that takes up most of his day. He constantly gets on some of our team member's cases (even mine) about how there's 24 hours a day, and how Schwartzenegger's motivational speech can do wonders for us.

@  ShenFNWoo : (09 March 2019 - 07:19 AM)

OR we can make our own sonic stuff, and put together something that could tide us over until the 'official' sea3on starts back up.

@  ShenFNWoo : (09 March 2019 - 07:18 AM)

We're all here because we like Sonic. We want more of it. When there is no Sonic to speak of, we could EASILY branch off into other topics, and continue discussing that stuff instead.

@  ShenFNWoo : (09 March 2019 - 07:00 AM)

Like, disagreements will NOT murder your world. You'll live. There were intense discussions that kinda just faded into dust. Most here seem to be polarized hard in either direction. People who're too conservative, and then those who swallow libtard nonsense regarding gamergate. And when disagreement that strong appears, people want it shut down. At this point, if I were running the place, I'd take any and all discussion

@  ShenFNWoo : (09 March 2019 - 06:58 AM)

And I'm not just talking about what happens with me. Nothing extracurricular around here gets much of any attention. People seem to be afraid to get their thoughts challenged, so they just get dissuaded from participating.

That's funny. Sonic Boom didn't feel like the Simpsons. In fact, it was way too family-friendly to be anything like the Simpsons.

to even Comedy Chimp essentially serving as the show's equivalent of Krusty the Clown.

Let me guess, Comedy Chimp's character is a metaphor for how "business is where dreams go to die", right? My reason for thinking this? In one episode, two kids see a picture of him in his younger days and comment how he has a 'hint of hope in his eyes', implying that jobs crush dreams (but you don't need jobs for that).

Well, to be fair, the OVA wasn't produced by Toei Animation. Rather, it was Studio Pierrot - the guys behind the animation of "Yu Yu Hakusho", "Bleach", and "Naruto".

Except Naruto's animation is....

Well, this is why I should check info by myself instead of repeating what other people say on the Internet :v

For whatever reason, SEGA of Japan doesn’t see any value in the SatAM cast. The same applies to other niche characters from other bygone spinoff continuities - AoStH, Underground, X, Boom, etc. Once their runtimes are spent, they’re pretty much done.

For a long time, the Archie comics were a notable exception because of how long it lasted. But when the series was cancelled, the licensing deal they made way back in the early 90s (which included the SatAM elements) was axed as well. So unless SoJ has a change in heart, it’s doubtful we’ll be seeing those characters appear in any media again.

This also applies to game characters that they deem inappropriate to the current direction. The Classic SEGA cast (Mighty, Ray, Nack, Bean, Bark, Honey, etc.), Cream, Emerl, and possibly Big are all off-limits in the IDW series.

With Sega restructuring again it's possible they may have a change of heart. Rumor has it that Sonic Team is being relocated to the offices in Irving

Look at Nintendo, they didn't recognize Paulina for years in Mario and now she's back in Odyssey

Well, that still remains to be seen. Last time I've checked, Ian has said that SoJ is deadset on not including any characters from the previous TV series. So I doubt we'll be seeing the SatAM cast appear in the main comics any time soon.

However, there might be another opportunity. The SatAM cast may be prevented from appearing in the main IDW series for the time being, but with the recent announcement of other comics being released in the forthcoming year, there's a possibility that they may get the chance to return in another series - either a continuation of the Archie reboot continuity or maybe the SatAM series. Who knows?

Granted, this is only speculation, but it is something to consider.

Update: In BumbleKast #82, Ian Flynn clarifies that the "not allowed" language isn't accurate; characters from spinoffs are simply unlikely

My thoughts:  The fact of the matter is, it sounds like Sega is giving IDW the message that they shouldn't use the Freedom Fighters; so it seems like it amounts to the same thing.

To be fair, even if the SatAM cast do get the chance to appear in the IDW series, would it really add anything to the comic? Sure, it'll be a nice shoutout to the show, but I think that's all it will really amount to.

I dunno. By this point, I'm thinking their absence might be for the best.

What is this, the 5th time Ian has had to "clarifiy" his comments concerning the IDW comic?

Considering the sheer number of times people have misconstrued his words, I think it's worth repeating.

Still, the first time or the second I get it, but this many times it's a bit concerning. Yeah people try to twist his words but at the same time he does it to himself by giving people the chance to when he has to clarify himself.

I've noticed when he give interviews he does have poor word choicing at times.

The only way SoJ would be interested in the SatAM cast again is if they saw a viable market for them to profit from. And despite Archie keeping them alive they were always eclipsed by the game cast in terms of recognition and popularity. It would take someone from the american branch to do some hard convincing to dig them up and sell them again, although with the Boom cartoon doing well that would also play against the need for digging up older cartoon material.

I think it's safe to say that the FF's legacy and future is in fan's hands rather than Sega's.  I doubt Ian is going to showcase the FF in the IDW with SOJ control over the comics, but it maybe for the better.  I'd rather have good characters with some quality storytelling, and I have come to realize that most big comic franchises will suffer in both areas due to the need to make a long lasting profit.  I'd say FUS is fine with continuing Sea3on in the spirit of continuing the Satam series, and I would back up fan writers that care more about the characters and quality rather than the money aspect of story-telling.

Before honor comes humility.

The Most High God created this world we live in, and He created man in His image for Himself.  Whether we like it or not doesn't change the truth nor does it change the consequences.
