Oh shoot there's a Discord?

It's a disagreement between two people...n judging what goes on in there sometimes that's a very apt description xD

@  John Roberts : (25 April 2020 - 05:34 PM)

What's a Discord?

@  Nex : (25 April 2020 - 04:15 PM)

Activity is spread across forum, discord 'n the site chat room. There's life, it's just hiding under different rocks :D

I'm just going to just... you know throw it out there.. Anyone watch it? Seen it? Like it? Hate it?

At first I thought reviving the series was a stupid idea and the first time I ever saw it I noticed how terrible the art was and how cheap the animation was... My reaction was actually "The hell is that crap. Give me the original:

"

But then a friend showed me this:

and this:

and I decided to give it a try.

Yeah the art and animation is cheap but tbh, it's a really good show. It's not as kiddy as the original. It's something the family can enjoy. It doesn't have as much magicy mythical stuff as the original, but it's not as all srs as that My Little Pony Tales show...

It's good. It's cute. It made me smile. I like it... and I was just wondering if anyone here has tried it out.

I just wanted to tell you that the hardest thing I've faced

It was convincing myself I wasn't stupid, strange, or lame

I plan to get DVDs of this show whenever it comes out. From the episodes I saw on Youtube, I love how non girly and creative it is. You would expect a show like this to suffer from the usual girl stereotypes, but really every pony have these personalities that anyone can relate to. We have the animal loving shy type, the tomboyish sporty type, beauty and fashion type (she is like a stylist, not a shop-a-holic), really insane type, etc. As much as I did sorta like the original MLP cartoons, their personalities felt like carbon copies of eachother. Also, the singing sequences in the new MLP series is pretty awesome, I believe their actual pony VAs sing, and they sing pretty decently.

Oh yes and the presence of Voodoo/Witchdoctor Zebra character is pure win.

I suggested this series to my 8 year old sister and she absolutely loves Twilight Sparkle and Princess Luna/Selena xD.png

Maybe if the title didn't sound so......for girls, I would check it out, but My Little Pony is just one of those shows I can't stand. I bet its something Morgan would enjoy though! thumbsup_anim.gif

I was... really skeptical about checking this out when I first heard about it.

I remember the old series... it was so girly, it was practically insulting... And I thought this would be no different.

I was wrong.

Yeah, sure. Their pony's and their sharing friendship and all the usually cutesy crap, but it's not over done to the point of madness. Actually, I'm surprised how... not overly cutesy and fluffy it is. The characters have actually problems and must face their own challenges and each one of them has their own personality so the viewer can tell them apart by the way they speak or act rather than what color they are or what tattoo they have planted on their ass.

And Nique, I disagree... I really love the art direction and animation xD.png The expressions are entertaining, the animation is smooth, and the designs are just... fun.

I never watched the original because... well, I'm a dude and I would have had my ass laughed out of grade school. Now... I really want to check this series out... and it's just so awkward hearing myself say that xD.png

I have a theory why this show is as good as it is... Just have a look at who's in charge of the series. Lauren Faust, who had a hand in developing Cartoon Networks Power Puff Girls and Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends.

Kids will love it.

I think I'll stick with Transformers and GI Joe reruns, and wait for Transformers Prime, instead...

I like Care Bears, so already I'm part-way there to being a poof. I don't think my manhood can take a second downward hit for My Little Ponies, however.

Believe me, John, it's worth the dive for "Friendship is Magic". As a card-carrying brony, I humbly advocate that this show is fun, funny, and, much like SatAM, derives a lot of its power from a great cast of characters and the wide variety of relatinonships between them. It IS still a kid's show aimed at girls, of course, but if you adjust your expectations accordingly, I think you'll find yourself pleasantly surprised.

... The new my little pony series is actually pretty good. It goes against everything I was brought up on, but I really like it. Seriously, I hate everything else My Little Pony related... but this one series is perfectly fine in my book. The writing is good, the characters are fun.... I dunno, I've been into the series for a month or so and I still can't believe I like it.

Just check out an episode at the very least.

Oh the last My Little Pony I saw was years ago. I didn't even know there was a new series until recently. Maybe I'll get an episode a shot something.

I don't think the animation is cheap at all, it's very smooth and colourful.

(and that winter song is damn catchy!)

Well the animation is Flash so that makes it kinda cheap, but for Flash it's really well animated. As for that winter song:

Nope. Just FUS and Outpost 31. I used to hang around Game FAQs, but my lack of access to newer gaming systems means that most of anything I had to discuss there is long since dead... I'm not a rabid Transformers or GI Joe fan. It's more along the lines that they're currently the best thing on the air at their particular time slot. I'll totally ditch them if there's something good on around that time. Especially now that Dish Network has seen fit to increase the number of movie channels I get for a while...
