The entire website shut down years ago; guess he couldn't afford the upkeep

I agree that Penders should have just created his own universe instead of trying to tie in the Knuckles universe...without Knuckles. And make a less obvious name.

He's already making them aliens, so make them look more alien like instead of some creepy rip off.

I don't know. I don't plan to pay a single dime, but if it's free online I'd probably check it out out of curiosity.

It's taken him over 7 years and he still has nothing to really show for it. If anything, but the time it does (if at all) end up releasing, I think too much time would've passed for most people to care. And due to the fact that a lot of people blame Penders for what happened to the Archie title, he's not gonna win many of them over as well.

 

And the stuff he has released has heavy amounts of tracing and stock images.

 

Hell the cover he put out recently was basically a 1 for 1 trace of the 25XYL cover

There was one post where he straight up admitted signing a contract to Archie about the characters being owned by Sega/Archie... then proceeded to lie about it in court.

Wow. He's quite the slippery one isn't he? I have no sympathy for the guy. I do think he had some good ideas in the comic, and I don't know what happened with regard to his fall out with the series, but tearing down the comics and Sega, especially with regard to the Sonic Chronicles game (I was really looking forward to a sequel too, and I found Shade to be a likeable character, the only thing missing from the game was Blaze IMO) just because his pride was hurt, was way past uncool. Yep, I used the Sonic reference there, I'm a total nerd haha! But seriously, if they could find out he lied in court, couldn't Sega or Archie take him to court again and do something about that? I think Sonic Chronicles deserved a continuation, and I think they should bring Shade back and the other Nocturnus clan characters. Sure they might have been a nod to Penders work, but I feel it's more of a "hey we like your work, we were inspired" than an outright copy. The nocturnus clan even had some cool armor and provided more backstory for Knuckles and the echidnas in general. I always felt like Knuckles was the last of his people, but not the last of the echidnas, and that there were other echidna groups out there, other echidna races or families if you will. 

 

What a real shame. I suppose if he couldn't "pay his rent" so to speak, he got his just desserts, and I hope karma hits him good.

Ken's a bit of a giant hypocrite when it comes to the things he says. He's stated that if were to ever write for the Sonic comic again, he'd make all of Flynn's material non-canon and has said he never approved and liked what Flynn did with the characters he had created. But this is the same guy who took characters he didn't create, like say Sally and attempted to kill her off, or Lupe and roboticized her. Plus he's known to plagiarize/steal the works of others and try to pass them off as his own work. Like I'm all for homages and inspirationand such, but when you just take an idea and pretty much do the exact same thing, just with a Sonic coat of paint? Eeeeeeh...

 

And yeah it has been stated that years ago on his forum he had stated he had signed contracts with Archie and that Archie/Sega owned everything he had created. Maybe he was lying back then. Or maybe (and this is just a theory) he discovered that Archie had lost/disposed of the contracts he (and others) had signed when they were no longer working for the company (one rumour has suggested they were destroyed in a fire) and he took advantage of that to claim ownership of his works and characters.

I had t nose through this thread out of curiosity as i had just watched a 3 part interview with Ken Kenders on Youtube where he discussed that law suit.

That Lara-Su image though needs t be taken to back to mount Doom and cast back in to the fires from which it came...and then nuked from orbit...it's the only way to be sure.
